The third episode aired yesterday, and I came to the conclusion that this show is a tear jerker. Last night MTV visited Riverside High. You had all types of clicks: punk, creeker, freak, popular, jock, homecoming queen, class clown, etc. The "punk" was considered a freak because he basically looks like Justin Bieber . The school. Brittney's (pictured on next page) story stuck out the most. It's hard to hear that you're the "worst daughter" by your own father. Or called names just people you look different, or because you have a disorder. It's even harder to share what your going through to a group of people that disliked and mistreated you (before the show). Because we don't know what happens at the school once the camera leaves, if everybody ends up being friends, or if they use the information you shared against you.
That's a question I really want to know "Did the school really change?, did the program actually work?". MTV should do follow-ups just to see how Challenge Day affected the students in the long run. Kids admitted to attempting suicide, picking on other students, lying, spreading rumors, being lonely, and misunderstood. It's a lot to admit to. I agree with the host when she stated that people only show 10% of who they are. I think I do. I wasn't always this way, but I learned my lesson when so called friends aren't your friends and they decide to take something that's partially true, and twist it into something it's not. Which just made be build a wall with people. I let them think anything they want about me, but at the end of the day I know what's true and what's not. I have a feeling this will hurt me down the road, and I need to start opening up to people more, but it's hard to trust people sometimes. People are so self motivated that I feel that it's hard for some people to have your best interest at heart. In the end, I commend the students for not being afraid to say who they are and what they are going through. It's tough, and I hope everything works out.
